While working at Shopify, I took my interest in data and insightful information and did a test case for some new reporting. From this I created a series of dashboards that would help merchants understand a broader view of their ecommerce information and data. The focus was a profit dashboard with finances profit calculation which would give better financial reporting charts, custom reports & auto exchange rate for accurate profit calculations. The focus was to help the merchant make smarter decisions to optimize their store & improve profits & sales.
Research
I researched the best practices for successful ecommerce flows to ensure the right variables would be outlined in the analytics. This helped shape the user journey to determine what reports were most relevant. There was also a need for scheduled and on demand reports within the dashboard. Once all the metrics were outlined, the dashboard concepts were created.
Results
The following dashboards and reports provided an extremely accurate picture the merchant’s finances, profit calculator & data analytics reporting to track business metrics, lifetime profit & expenses. The profit dashboard had various views into several areas that make up the entire financial picture of the average Shopify merchant on the ecommerce platform. These reports give the merchant a clear view into all of the variables that make up their overall financial health of their Shopify store.
Detailed Reports
For the key metrics on the main reporting dashboard, I created a series of detailed reports. These reports showed the merchant the details for each of the key data points in the report. This allowed the merchant to get insight into all their key metrics and information all from on location with just a few clicks. The merchant could also toggle between reports in a daily, weekly or monthly view, depending on what insights they were trying to retrieve.
